Listen to Stephanie discuss online therapy during a recent BBC Radio interview:

Online Counselling and Supervision

I offer online counselling to clients in any location provided you have a reliable internet connection. Both my clients and myself find this to be just as effective as in person counselling. Some reasons may be that you are unwell and unable to get to my consulting room; perhaps you are travelling or too busy to attend in person; possibly you are not based in Bournemouth but would still like to make use of my services. Online counselling may be the ideal solution for you.

Stephanie

How It Works

We will book a session just as if you were making an appointment to meet with me in person. Visit my contact page to set this up. At the designated time we will both log onto Skype, Zoom or FaceTime and connect online for your therapy session. I ask clients to call me as this is effectively attending the session.

I ask for payment to be made via bank transfer, and to be paid 48 hours prior to the session for this to be secured.

I look forward to connecting with you wherever and however it best suits you.

Frequently Asked Questions About Online Counselling

What is online counselling?

This is therapy that is done over the internet such that geography does not need to be a barrier to accessing counselling or supervision. It may be via Skype, FaceTime, Zoom or telephone. I will be guided by your preference as my client.

How might online counselling help?

Some people are unable to meet face-to-face for a variety of reasons, and online therapy makes counselling accessible. In the same way as if we meet in person, I will work with whatever is worrying you to find your personal insights and solutions. Most of the problems that you would consider taking in person to your counsellor, can be dealt with online.

How do I choose my therapist?

You will get a feel for a counsellor from their website which will give you an idea of their way of working, areas of special interest, fees, and qualifications. An ethical practitioner will be a member of a recognised professional body such as the BACP or UKCP, and I personally am an accredited member of the British Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (MBACP). I offer a half-price intial assessment session, so that we can talk about your needs and expectations of counselling, and to help you decide if you wish to continue with me without any worry of obligation.

Is online counselling secure and confidential?

Everything is totally confidential as this is the foundation of the profession, and only on rare occasions may it be necessary to involve a third party. This would be for instance, if I was worried about you hurting yourself or another; child protection issues or any other issues for which I am a mandated reporter.

Anything you relay to me via an online platform is subject to the same confidentiality boundaries that we would have in place if I saw you face-to-face. I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office, an independent public body set up to protect personal information and ensure that comply with the Data Protection Act. My registration number is Z2204770 and my entry can be found on the register of data controllers at www.ico.gov.uk .

How do I pay?

I ask for payment to be made via bank transfer, and will provide you with my banking details. This to be paid 48 hours prior to the session for it to be secured.
